Dr Hong Yau Tan

Dr Hong Yau Tan was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and migrated to Adelaide, Australia at the age of 17. Before completing his medical degree, he pursued an undergraduate degree and worked in laboratory settings, gaining valuable research and clinical experience early in his career.

Dr Tan has extensive hospital experience managing a broad range of surgical patients, particularly in vascular surgery and urology, as well as caring for patients with complex and chronic medical conditions. While his initial career path was directed towards surgery, he ultimately found his calling in General Practice, where he enjoys providing comprehensive, ongoing care to patients across all stages of life.

Outside of medicine, Dr Tan enjoys gentle hiking, exploring nature, travelling, and discovering new food experiences — always keen to try every food stall or restaurant he comes across.

Dr Tan speaks and reads Mandarin, English, Malay, and Cantonese (dialect). He has also studied Spanish for two years and is currently learning basic Japanese.
